As a grandchild of Japanese-born immigrants, I felt a deep connection to my roots, yet a desire to carve out my own path led me to Japan. In Tokyo, I pursued my passion for film, studying its technical aspects while immersing myself in the city’s vibrant cultural landscape. It was during this transformative period that I discovered surreal and non-narrative art films from Europe and North America. These films, with their unconventional storytelling and abstract imagery, profoundly shifted my perspective, opening my eyes to new ways of interpreting both art and the world around me.

After graduating from film school, I spent several years in Tokyo, refining my craft and absorbing the artistic energy of the city. However, my creative journey didn’t stop there. I felt a growing urge to explore another medium, so I moved to New York to study photography. This shift allowed me to expand my visual language, blending the technical skills I developed in film with the expressive potential of still imagery. The blend of influences from Japan, Europe, North America, and New York's dynamic art scene continues to shape my artistic identity today.
